Groen, Kluka & Company, P.C. Names Four New Shareholders

Groen, Kluka & Company, P.C., a full-service professional accounting, financial services and management consulting firm headquartered in Troy, Mich. with worldwide affiliate offices through CPA Associates International, has named Lisa Papas, CPA, CFE; Kevin Delaere, CPA, CFPTM; Brian Scheuring, CPA, CFE, and William Barnes, CPA, MST, CFPTM, CDFA as shareholders.

“These four professionals have put their considerable talents into helping Groen, Kluka & Company, P.C. grow into one of the premier mid-sized accounting firms in metropolitan Detroit,” said Managing Partner Jeffrey J. Groen. “They have made a significant investment in this firm and have been instrumental in client relations and developing new client leads.”

Papas has been with Groen, Kluka & Company, P.C. since 1993. During this time, she has provided a variety of tax and accounting services, including audits, reviews and compilations, corporate and individual income tax return preparation, tax planning and other tax related responsibilities. Lisa, who has worked extensively with construction, manufacturing, distribution and professional service firms, also handles most in-house human resource tasks. 

Scheuring has been with Groen, Kluka & Company, P.C. since 1997. While with the firm, he has gained extensive experience in audit, review, compilation and corporate taxation in the areas of manufacturing, construction, engineering, non-profit, mortgage banking and wholesale distributors. He also works closely with business owners and prepares individual and corporate tax returns.

Delaere joined Groen, Kluka & Company, P.C. in 1994. As an advisor to small business, Kevin helps the owners select and implement qualified and non-qualified plans including retirement and pension plans and group insurance and provides objective advice on asset allocation, portfolio risk management, retirement, education, and tax planning as well as various insurance strategies.

Barnes joined Groen, Kluka & Company, P.C. in 2001 having spent many years with several international accounting firms and additional roles in the private industry. He focuses his efforts on tax compliance, research and tax management strategies. He earned a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Walsh College in 1999.

Papas and Scheuring both recently earned their Certified Fraud Examination designation from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the world's leading provider of anti-fraud training and education. They are certified to provide fraud examination services to Groen, Kluka & Company, P.C. clients and utilize their skills in Sarbanes-Oxley style engagements including internal control review.

With this CFE designation, Papas and Scheuring are credentialed in four areas critical to the ongoing fight against fraud: fraudulent financial transactions, criminology and ethics, as well as legal elements of fraud and fraud investigation.

As a Certified Planning PractitionerDelaere heads the firm’s Wealth Management Group and has written for and been interviewed in various local and national publications including Journal of Financial Planning, Financial Planning Magazine, Practical Accountant, Oakland Business Review and the Detroit Legal News.

Barnes also is part of the Wealth Management Group as a Certified Planning Practitioner. Bill additionally holds a Certified Divorce Financial Planning designation, making him an expert in providing wealth management counseling and advice to individuals who have completed or are in the process of a divorce.
